Air Jeopardy -  Test your knowledge of Air Quality issues by coming up with the correct question. Categories include weather, chemistry, health effects, active living and much more.

Airway Invaders - Try and spot all the airway invaders that can have negative health effects asthma sufferers. Even if you don’t have asthma some of these triggers could also affect you.

Save Planet Polluto - The Pollutonians need your help to save their planet from the ravages of air pollution. Click on games and activities with cool and colourful graphics, and meet the Pollutonians.

Smog City 2 - See for yourself how your choices affect air quality. This is a graphic simulation in which you can change the weather, population and emissions in order to control air pollution.

The Indoor Air Pollution Chase - Check our how poor air quality can occur inside your home. Take a tour of a typical house and see if you can find all the harmful agents.

The EPA Climate Change Kids Site - Learn more about climate change and the greenhouse effect by doing word searches, playing Concentrate and beating Ozone the dog in a game of Checkers.

    1. To analyze the effects of physical activity on the respiratory system.

    2. To monitor breathing during physical activity.

    The Big Idea:

    1. To recognize that air pollution is a global problem and gain awareness of the differences among countries in air pollution and respiratory health.
    2. To see how laws, education, population and economics support or reduce a country’s ability to respond to the growing need to reduce air pollution.
    3. To recognize the important leadership role that Canada and other western countries play in supporting third world countries in reducing their emissions for global benefits. To recognize that many third world countries are industrializing like western countries did in the past and need support/incentives to more quickly progress.
    4. To create a short story of life in another country or a poster illustrating conditions in one or several countries to share in class.

    1. To encourage students to consider responsibility for air pollution and the resulting asthma and other health impacts from a broad perspective.
    2. To support students’ reflections on shared responsibility and the areas where different players can have the most impact (e.g., individual, businesses, local government, national government).
    3. To encourage students’ exploration of short success stories in air pollution reduction from around the world.

    Learn about the Air Quality and Health Index (AQHI) and how to use it to protect your health. Recognize how air quality affects everyone differently and understand why certain groups are considered “high risk.” Develop actions to reduce exposure to polluted air and to improve air quality.
