ASTHMA
It is estimated that more than 80 per cent of asthma deaths could be prevented with proper asthma education. The most effective way to take control of your asthma is to educate yourself.
There is an abundance of free asthma resources available. Below we have listed some valuable information that everyone should be aware of.
- Visit your doctor or a Certified Asthma/Respiratory Educator (CAE/CRE) to discuss your personal asthma management program and asthma action plan
- Learn to take control of your asthma with this very cool e-learning module developed by the Asthma Society of Canada and McMaster University
- Take this short quiz to learn how well you are currently managing your asthma

ALLERGIES
Effective management of allergies requires clear diagnosis coupled with strategies to reduce exposure to the substances that trigger them. Because allergies can be triggered by a wide variety of substances and present a number of different responses that range in intensity from mild to life-threatening, treatment and avoidance strategies will vary from one individual to the next.
The Allergy/Asthma Information Association, Canadian Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology and the Asthma Society of Canada are good starting places for more information.
