"I liked the program because it I thought it was a great way to get exercise to help the earth and even after it’s over we should still be active and help the earth. In this program it helped me to understand that if we walk, bike, etc. to school or anywhere else we would help our planet.”
“Because of your speech about air pollution, we do things to help the environment. We learned that smog is very bad for us. We will help the environment, now we all do things like ride a bike, carpool, pick litter, sort trash and reuse things. Some of us walk instead of drive to the supermarket."
“It was fun learning about our carbon footprints and what impact we have on Earth because of our lifestyle.”
“My parents used a lot more of active transportation when I told them about the Clean Air Achievers program and what their goal is, and that is to make the air much better for us NOW and for the people of the future. They still used the car at times, but not as much as before.”
“I thought it was a great experience. Making a change in your daily life isn't easy, but when there's a program with many people supporting you, it becomes much easier.”
"I liked it because I live really close to the school (about 2 minutes away in the car) and I always used to go in the car now I realized that its only 0.5 km to walk and it’s nice to get a little fresh air in the morning.”
“The slide show that was presented to us was very inspiring and great at informing us on the problems that we need to fix as a nation. Thank you to John Hastings from Clean Air Champions, I learned a lot and will start to change things that I learned were harmful to the earth for the better.”
"I walk to school now because I don't want to make it hard for people with asthma to breathe.”
“I think this program is great for all students to take part in because it makes you more aware of the world's environmental issues and how easy it can be to make a difference. Even if you are only one person, you can make a difference by simply just walking to school one day, and if everyone in your class did that up to thirty cars would be off the road that morning. It is so easy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and I think it is important for people my age to become more aware of this because we are the future generation and we will have the power to make a difference. Now I walk to school every day even if it is warm or cold outside because it is good for me and the environment.”
“We will try now (since we know the troubles of pollution it cause to everyone) to make sure that we reduce, reuse, recycle and keep the earth and air clean and healthy.”
“I went home that day and told my parents about how I got this award and stuff. They thought it was really cool to be involved in something like that. So my whole family started walking more and biking. But my mom says that we can't change the world in the blink of an eye, we all have to come together and help out. We all want to live for as long as we can but if we can't cause of air pollution, then we know something is wrong. So my family got more active, instead of driving to the grocery store we walk or bike because it isn't that far.”
“I think it is a very worthwhile program for students because most students look at an issue like this as just another one and they don't realize that this particular issue is affecting our whole world, which also includes them. It helps students realize they need to put an effort into this cause if they want the next generation to have a safe clean lifestyle.”
