Our longest running program, HSBC Clean Air Achievers teaches youth in Grades 5-9 about transportation and how it impacts our air, our climate and our health. Youth get a first hand look at how their personal travel habits have an impact on the environment and learn that they can make the choices to reduce greenhouse gases and improve their fitness.
The goals of the program are for each participant to:
- Produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) through reduced reliance on the automobile; and
- Enhance their level of fitness by choosing active modes of transportation
This FREE program recognizes that each student is unique in their travel habits, and provides many resources to support all students including curriculum activities, an online trip tracker and online games & quizzes. Best of all, our Champions, National team, Olympic and Paralympic athletes deliver two inspirational presentations to each class.
Our Champions are proven role models who offer compelling and inspiring stories, connecting personal experiences to real issues facing all Canadians.
Teacher registration for this program is required. Click Here or choose the 'Teachers' tab on the left to create an account. Some restrictions apply based on geography.

- Our Champions Play Street Hockey to Celebrate HSBC's Donation to Clean Air Champions

On September 30, 2011, Clean Air Champions held a friendly street hockey tournament at St Monica Catholic School in Toronto. Clean Air Champion and three-time Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Gold medalist Hayley Wickenheiser played alongside Grade 8 students from St Monica School , and fellow CAC Champions, Bill Trayling, Brian Stemmle, Kelly McCaig and Kara Zakrzewski. Eric Brock, Chief Operating Officer, Commercial Banking, HSBC Bank Canada, served as guest referee. The event was held in celebration of HSBC Group (UK) donating $200,000 to Clean Air Champions!
St Monica's was the perfect host to such an amazing event! Everyone there made HSBC/CAA feel right at home. THANK YOU to Principal Alonzi, Mr. Boicey, Ms. Dias, Ms. Clifford and Mr. McElhinney for your great work and generosity before and during the event. Also, THANK YOU to all of the Grade 8 students that showed their hockey skills and the rest of the students for their enthusiasm!
