We have one world that will only serve us if we serve it. Although the earth will continue to try to be tolerant of the abuse it endures at the hands of humans, it will not be able to serve us in the way it has for millenia if we continue to take and not give. We must work as a partner of the planet rather than an owner.
As a national team paddler, an adventure racer, and mountain bike athlete, I am fortunate to have competed on the trails, rivers, lakes and in the forests of countries across the globe. While I have experienced some pristine wilderness and well managed environments, I have also witnessed places that have been destroyed by what some call progress. As a Clean Air Champion, I will strive to make a difference by highlighting the importance of an environmental & ecological awareness - as we all strive for success in our one world.
Following an eight year National Kayak Team career, Bill Trayling developed a reputation as one of Canada’s most inspirational coaches, serving as the National Coaches Representative for the Canadian Canoe Association from 1993 thru 2000. During this time, he also worked as a key member of the 2008 Toronto Olympic bid team. Bill continued to succeed on the water, winning his 27th Canadian Championship in 2001, and then winning 6 gold medals at the 2004 Dragonboat World Championship. He competed at Eco-Challenge Fiji in 2002, and has represented Canada at the Adventure Racing World Championships a number of times. He competed at the Trans-Rockies Challenge in 2007 and in 2008 he had a top 10 finish at the gruelling 7 day BC Bike Race.
